What are the main differences between Pro and Express postcards?
Pro (large) postcards are bigger, printed full-bleed in full color on both sides, and use heavier stock. Express (small) postcards are smaller, have a white border, and use lighter stock, making them a faster, lower-cost option for simple messages.
What postcard sizes do you offer?
LetterStream offers two main postcard sizes: a Small/Express postcard (5.5″ × 4.25″) and a Large/Pro postcard (8.5″ × 5.5″). You select the postcard size during job creation, and for optimizing postcard image quality, your artwork should match the size of postcard you are going to use.
What paper or stock is used for postcards?
Do postcards print in color on both sides?
Both sides can include color images for Pro postcards only. The smaller Express postcards include a grayscale image on the image side with black text on the reverse.
Do postcards include edge-to-edge (full-bleed) printing?
Yes, for Pro postcards. Our larger Pro postcards print full-bleed, so your design can run all the way to the edge with no white border. Our smaller Express postcards are not full-bleed and will always have a thin white border (about 0.25″) around the edge. You’ll be able to review proofs before you pay, so you can confirm exactly how your postcard will look.
Do you offer colored cardstock for postcards?
Colored cardstock is available for Express (small) postcards. Pro (large) postcards don’t use pre-set colored paper options because they’re printed with your full color images as full-bleed postcards; for a colored cardstock look, you can design your artwork with a colored background and we print it that way on standard white cardstock.
If I choose colored cardstock for Express postcards, does it apply to both sides?
Yes. When you select a colored paper option for Express postcards, the cardstock itself is that color on both sides.
What file size should I upload for each postcard option?
Your postcard artwork should match the postcard size you select. If you upload small-size artwork but choose a large Pro postcard, the system will scale it up and quality will be reduced. Size your artwork to the intended postcard dimensions before uploading for best results.
